I normally don't cook, I'm really not very good at it and my husband happens to be a pretty good cook so I don't have to cook. However, I want to eat better, more fruits and vegetables, and avoid eating so much processed food. Here is a simple recipe that I managed to make..and it was good! :)
Ingredients:
One chicken breast cooked and cut into cubes (I baked it)
One can of Campbell's chicken soup
One bag of pictsweet mixed frozen vegetables
Pillsbury Grands biscuits
Instructions:
1. Cook vegetables according to instructions on the bag (boil in water for 3 minutes)
2. Mix soup with half a can of water or milk over heat.
3. Combine chicken cubes, vegetables, and soup.
4. Pour mixture into an oven safe pan and cover with biscuits.
5. Cook on 400 degrees for around 10 minutes or until biscuits are golden.
6. Add salt and pepper to taste and ENJOY!
*I turned the biscuits so the underside would cook to be crispy like the top (I think the moisture from the mixture prevented the bottoms from cooking)

First day of school
Today was my first day at cosmetology school, it went really well although we didn't do much besides get our kits, meet the staff, and go through lots of paperwork. My sister was babysitting so I didn't expect to have any problems, apparently the little man behaved and even started cruising. He walked while holding onto the couch when I wasn't there! When the day was over I walked out to be greeted by my husband and son, it was a wonderful surprise since I thought hubby was at work. The little things really do make a world of difference :)
I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as today did, it will be the first time leaving the little monster with someone who isn't a family member - eek!

Solid food strike?
Recently, my son started refusing his spoon, no matter what was on it. I was a little concerned because before this he was great about eating his baby food, he would open his mouth for the spoon to enter and wasn't really picky about what I fed him. All of a sudden he would not eat his baby food, he would eat the little finger food that I gave him and his bottle but no spoon. Well, after this went on for almost a week I decided I wouldn't offer him any more because I was wasting so much baby food. Either he wasn't feeling well or the break from baby food made him want it again because last night I offered him some and he opened his mouth like before to accept the spoon, he ended up eating the whole 3.5oz of baby food! I'm so relieved he is eating his solids again, this morning he had his cereal so looks like we're back on track :)

Crafty momma
Since I have been making hair bows I decided to make a fan page to display them so others could possibly purchase them or let me know ideas for other bows. I also plan to start making homemade soap and baby wipe solution cubes (for those that use cloth wipes, you dissolve the cube in water to make wipe solution). Another thing I might add are costumes, I'm making my son's first Halloween costume so we shall see how it turns out :)

Halloween costume
I found a really cute costume for my son's first Halloween but I couldn't justify spending $50 on a costume for him to wear once. I decided I would make his costume myself and try to re-create the one I liked. So far the fabric has cost around $15 and since I got snap clsures and non-slip grip material for the bottom the total cost is maybe $20, bargain! I started sewing it by hand a few nights ago since my sewing machine is acting up, I'm going to be so proud of myself when it's finished! We are hopefully going to a pumpkin patch to take pictures before Halloween of the little guy in his costume, maybe the pictures will be worthy of displaying in our house ;)
Now I need to figure out what I'm going to dress up as!

Homemade baby food
Last night I made my own baby food for the first time. I used carrot, apple, pear, and sweet potato. My son hasn't tried any yet but he was a fan of the juice I saved from baking the apples and pears :) Fingers crossed that he likes my cooking!

Diaper sprayer
When I first decided I was going to try cloth diapers one of the big questions was whether a diaper sprayer was necessary or not. Some people swore by a diaper sprayer but others felt it was unnecessary, after I received all of my cloth diaper order I decided I would get the sprayer to see if I liked it or not. Well, there is the advantage of not putting poo directly into the washing machine and although I would say I am a fan no one warned me about the fact that to spray the diaper "clean" you have to make the pressure on the sprayer enough that it could also splash back and hit you in the face (you know like when the water from a hose bounces off the ground and splashes you) I have now figured out how to bend over the toilet to spray the diaper while tilting my head back enough not to get any unexpected spray backfire. At the end of the day I'm glad we have the diaper sprayer since I wash the cloth diapers every other day and it really reduces the smell, and makes my husband happy that we won't have any residue floating around the washing machine.
Cloth diapering
One day while searching for cute baby shower gift ideas I stumbled upon an article about practical ways to save money, one of the topics was cloth diapers. I briefly thought about cloth diapers while I was pregnant but decided not to really research the topic as I thought my husband would be completely against it, however, since I am the stay-at-home mom and change 98% of our son's diapers I reconsidered after reading the information I had stumbled upon.
Cloth diapers are NOT all square white towels that you fold and pin, there are actually quite a lot of modern, very cute, cloth diapers available and many different options. I decided one of my requirements was a one-size cloth diaper - this to me was the most practical as you can use the same diapers from newborn until the child is potty trained and you don't need to carry different sized diapers for each child (if you have more than one). The reviews I read lead me to BumGenius 4.0 one-size pocket diapers, they come in a variety of colors and the option of velcro or snap closure. For those that aren't familiar with cloth diapers a pocket diaper consists of an outer waterproof fabric (it is soft unlike the typical waterproof fabrics on umbrellas and such) which is lined with a soft fabric, I think most are fleece type so it is soft against baby's sensitive skin, with an opening to insert the soaker which holds any wetness and wicks it away from your little one, mine are like microfiber towels.
I found a local retailer which happened to be an online only store with the option for local pick-up (I hate paying for shipping!) I ordered a dozen diapers, theoretically enough for two days, in various colors, mostly neutral colors like green, yellow, and white since we plan on having another baby and I would like to use them for baby #2 also, I chose the snap closure since it's harder for the little one to unfasten. I also ordered a pail liner and "cloth diaper safe" laundry detergent (Rockin' Green).
Since not all of the diaper colors I selected were in-stock I picked up 4 of them and anxiously awaited the arrival of the remaining 8 diapers, I was so excited to start my cloth diapering adventure!
